Introduction to Natural Dyes: Shibori Technique + Indigo Dye Bath
Hosted by POST + Color Wheel Collective
Saturday April 14th from 2 to 3pm
$50, includes all materials
Mimosas and silk scarves make for a perfect Saturday afternoon!
Learn the basics of Indigo dyeing and the Japanese art of Shibori. During this afternoon workshop we will fold, tie, and use resist methods to create unique designs on silk scarves. Each scarf will be hand-dyed in a beautiful blue vat of natural indigo. Color Wheel Collective has grown, harvested, and processed their own indigo to create dye for this event.
Everyone will leave this make + take workshop with a silk scarf of their own creation!
Color Wheel is an organization that connects community and environment by exploring the history, science, and art of natural color making. Color Wheel is based in South-East Michigan, and is currently hosting a garden at Cranbrook House and Gardens. They will soon be hosting a dye garden here right at POST.
