Join us at the Detroit Historical Museum for the annual celebration of Detroit's most special holiday.

In 1936, April 18th was declared Champions' Day by the Governor of Michigan when the Tigers, Lions, and Red Wings all won their first championships in the same year. The day was meant to be a yearly event to celebrate Detroit. While we don't have Joe Louis and the 1936 Detroit Tigers baseball team celebrating with us like the first Champions' Day, for 5 years in a row we have been keeping the tradition alive.

Eastern Market Brewing Co will be leading the celebration for the second year with their finest brews on tap. The whole museum will be open and free of charge including rarely presented Detroit Tigers memorabilia and the City of Champions plaque signed by President FDR. Charles Avison, the author of «Detroit: City of Champions» and several other historical Detroit books will be there to go through any part of Detroit's sports history you want to quiz him on.

If you can't make it right on time, feel free to join us when you can. All ages are welcome. There will be $7 parking available at the museum, and street parking all around as well.

DETROIT TRIVIA CHAMPIONSHIP
After the museum, we will be taking the after party over to Eastern Market's brewery. There you will have a chance to be crowned Detroit Trivia Champion, where one hour of trivia will be dedicated to a completely Detroit themed game.

If this sounds crazy, here is the wikipedia article on Champions' Day and all of Detroit's sports accomplishments of that year.
