Did you know that you can plant garlic in the fall for a summer crop? However you need to have what is called «Coldneck» (A. sativum ssp. ophioscorodon) garlic. This is garlic that can be grown in our colder, Michigan climate. November is the perfect time to plant next summers garlic crop.
The Greening of Detroit would like to help out all our fellow gardeners this fall with a Garlic Giveway. We harvested hundreds of coldneck garlic this year.
Stop by our office on Tuesday, and pick up several heads of garlic***. Put them in the ground in the next couple of weeks and you are good to go! We will provide you planting instructions and other fun facts about garlic
