AIDS Walk Detroit provides financial support for programs in HIV prevention, education, and services for HIV positive individuals. The organization promotes public awareness through events and activities to ensure people living with HIV/AIDS are treated with dignity and respect.
About AIDS Walk Detroit:
In 1991 a group of local merchants and shop keepers in Royal Oak started AIDS Walk Detroit as a ‘simple request’ to raise money for individuals reeling from the HIV/AIDS epidemic. Today AIDS Walk Detroit has evolved into the largest grassroots HIV/AIDS fundraiser in the state of Michigan. Over the past 26 years AIDS Walk Detroit has raised over $3.8 million to benefit HIV/AIDS services here in Michigan.
AIDS Walk Detroit 2017 Presented by Delta Air Lines:
This year, AIDS Walk Detroit's 5K walk will take place on Sunday, September 17th at the Royal Oak Farmers Market. We have ambitiously set a goal of raising $200,000 through this year’s event and mobilizing over 2,500 participants to participate. This year we are challenging each and every one of our supporters to make these goals a reality.
Participants have the option to choose from three registration types:
1 — Walker — I want the official AIDS Walk Detroit 2017 t-shirt ($10 t-shirt fee).
2 — Walker — General Registration, please do not buy me a t-shirt.
3 — Volunteer
Walkers who wish to purchase a t-shirt should do so at the time of registration to be guaranteed preferred t-shirt size. Those who do not pre-register for a t-shirt will be able to purchase them at the event for $15.
