Golden Half Dragons- It was the dead of night in the sleepy Midwestern city. The moon was full and the crisp autumn air was full of mischief. All was still until the ground began to rumble with an infernal drumbeat. Suddenly a dragon’s tail, golden and glittering, burst forth from the loamy depths in which it had slumbered for millennia. Piercing winds howled from the north, bringing a trilling violin and wings of beaten gold. These two ancient entities were the Golden Half Dragons. Together they would entreat the eardrums of whomever crossed their path to strange utterances and war cries, shrieks of primal pain and piercing pleasure. They would gather sounds of horsehair, steel, rubber, wood, and wires, mixing them feverishly as if to cure a disease which as of yet has no name.

Other projects playing in the New York area include a new trio with Johnny DeBlase (Many Arms, Zevious) & Kevin Shea (Storm & Stress, Talibam, Mostly Other People Do the Killing) and a duo with former Ornette Coleman drummer G. Calvin Weston (album out on 577 records).
“…steel guitar-like licks move with the simplicity of updated Santana and McLaughlin…he applies [his effects collection] with an artist’s, not a house-painter’s strokes.”
– NYC Jazz Record
“Polyrhythmic two-hand tapping, atmospheric loops, flowing fusion lines mixed with skronky noise—Lucas Brode does it all.”
– Guitar Moderne
“His compositions and their titles vary with his intent and message: he’s as likely to embark on a near-20 minute drone odyssey as he is to play a Derek Bailey-esque untethered guitar piece.”
