Adventures With Vultures
Dustin Lowman (TN)
THE MOVIES (OH)
Libby DeCamp — Libby makes dusty folk and roots-inspired music with a lyrical edge, and delivers with a haunting vocal closeness that reaches listeners of all kinds. Her writing is born from fervent ties to both the American condition and tradition, daring to mark a space in the new era of the folksinger. Dabbling in an array of genres, the soundscape is captivating; innocently dark and best described as “Broken Folk.”
Adventures With Vultures — Adventures With Vultures’ Matt Sauter, who was a mere 24 years old when he signed with Original 1265 Recordings, hails from Plymouth. Adventures With Vultures’ songs are about specific places and the people who give those places their personality. Mos Def and J. Cole are cited among his influences, but so are Carol King, Shakey Graves, and Nathaniel Rateliff. Adventures With Vultures brings a welcome, abrasive quality to tender, stripped-down songs.
Dustin Lowman — Singer/songwriter hitting hard on the heels of Bob Dylan & other totemic predecessors, intent focus on formal songcraft, interest in lots of other artistic mediums as well; poetry, fiction, and drawing being a few. Sights set high on the bronze tower.
THE MOVIES — The Movies is a jangle-rock band formed in the countryside of Vermont by songwriter Will Cuneo. After making one DIY record there, 2015's «Wanna,» he relocated to Chicago, where he met Sarah Cuturic (bass, vox). Their sound is a blend of twangy power-pop and spare, contemplative slow-core.
