Are you ready to have your voice heard? Do you want to be more involved in your community? LGBT Detroit and Center for Disparity Solutions and Equity | University of Michigan hosts The 22nd Hotter Than July Annual Gathering for LGBT Issues. This is the space that addresses our concerns. The day consists of «The Mayoral Forum» in the morning and «The Action Plan for Defeating Apathy» seminar in the afternoon. The forums provide an opportunity to gain skills to advance the movement. So come on down and get involved.
The keynote address will be made by Dr. Truman Hudson, Jr., Director of Industry and Community Partnerships, Center for Disparity Solutions and Equity | University of Michigan Dearborn. Entitled, “Defeating Apathy: A Movement Towards Equitable Solutions in Detroit,” Dr. Hudson will frame the topic in the morning while the afternoon session «The Action Plan for Defeating Apathy» will be led by Alfredo Smith from Unified and David Nelson, Jr. from HELP.
To date the following have confirmed their attendance: Detroit City Council President and Candidate Brenda Jones; City Council Candidiate District 2, Nguvu Tsare; Detroit Mayoral Candidate Ingrid LaFleur; Detroit Mayoral Candidate, Sen. Coleman Young, Jr., Detroit City Councilwoman Janee' Ayers, Abdulrahman Mohamed El-Sayed for Govenor of Michigan, and City Council Candidate District 1, Tamara Smith.
Breakfast is supported by Black Treatment Action Network (BTAN) and lunch is supplied by AARP.
Parking is available in Orchestra Place Parking Structure accessible on Parsons St. Parking will be validated.
