Gaelic League Irish American Club of Detroit
2068 Michigan Ave., Detroit, Michigan 48216
A native of Baltimore now living in Ireland, Jesse Smith first learned Irish music from his Mother, Donna Long who was an original member of Cherish The Ladies. He also learned at the elbow of the great fiddle player Brendan Mulvihill. Jesse has toured and recorded with Danu as well as a sampling of many great Irish traditional musicians.
Sean Gavin's playing on flute, whistle and uilleann pipes reflects his lifelong love for traditional Irish music. A Detroit native now in Chicago, Sean was introduced to the music by his Father, Clare-born fiddle player Mick Gavin. His pipe teacher was Al Purcell, himself a student of the great piper Leo Rowsome. Sean has toured and recorded with Teada, Bua and NicGaviskey and is sought after as a session player and teacher.
Special guest Michael Gavin will also be performing.
