Bring a book to lend and a passage to share!
Narratives with Neighbors is a community book club with a twist — instead of everyone reading the same book, attendees bring a book that means something to them and that they are willing to lend.
When you read a book, you become connected with the author or with the characters in the story. We want to build on this connection by introducing another: one with the person who recommended the book to you.
Upon check in, people will write their name, email, and phone number on a sticky note placed on the inside front cover of their book. When the books are exchanged, the borrowers will have the contact information of the book owner.
At the event, neighbors will be asked to share a passage from their book and why it has meaning for them. Books will then be exchanged white elephant style, and by the end of the night, each person will have a new book to read.
As you read, you can contact the person whose book you have borrowed to share your thoughts.
All ages and reading levels are welcome!
