...and A Few Additional Surprises!

Founded in 1839, the Detroit Boat Club is the oldest such organization in the country. This building, the DBC’ s sixth home, was designed by Alpheus W. Chittenden and dedicated Aug. 5, 1902. The Venetian-style clubhouse sits on the site of the club’ s two previous homes — both lost to fires. Looking to avoid a three-peat, this clubhouse was built as one of the earliest structures in the country built entirely of concrete.

Be a part of this magnificent structure's new history! Come dressed to impress and enjoy Jazz Age classics performed by crooner Paul King and the Rhythm Society Orchestra, a sumptuous strolling supper and a very well stocked bar! The dance floor is larger and perfectly suited for you to show off your Charleston! Tickets available at

We're very excited about our beneficiary for this event — Activate Detroit Potential, which is just getting off the ground.

Activate Detroit Potential (ADP) is committed to creating training and career opportunity for at-risk women in Detroit. In partnership with Pretty Bird & Snug – an online retail apparel company featuring styles from the 1920s, through the 1950s — ADP will provide counseling, transportation and child care to those women who have experienced abuse, homelessness, addiction, incarceration or transgender discrimination, supporting them while they learn marketable, transferable skills such as PR and marketing, web skills, design skills, and administrative skills.

LOCATION: The Detroit Boat Club — also known as the Belle Isle Boat Club — E Picnic Way. Please use your GPS so that you don't get confused or end up at the wrong location! THIS IS NOT THE DETROIT YACHT CLUB!

EVENT TIME: Doors open at 8pm. Please do not arrive earlier than 8pm. The event ends promptly at midnight. The Boat Club is a wonderful venue and we are given just one hour to clean up and be out of there so please respect that time constraint.

LIQUOR: Ours is an open bar (while supplies last!) If you are under 21 (and our bartenders will be checking) you will NOT be served alcohol. All bar tips go to our charity, Activate Detroit Potential so please be generous!

Quick side bar: We normally like to do it all in style but we have a very special constraint with the Boat Club because it does not have a working kitchen! Which means we can't wash dishes and glassware so we're going to be using plastic serving pieces. Thanks for understanding!

FOOD: We are serving a strolling supper. This is not a full, sit down supper. It's more nibbles and savories and sweets. We always PLAN for plenty of food but it always goes quickly.

50-50 RAFFLE: Our 50-50 tickets are $5 for one ticket and $20 for 5 tickets. Have of the pot will go to one lucky winner and the other half will go to Activate Detroit Potential. Please be generous!

MUSIC: We have the Rhythm Society Orchestra playing in the grand ballroom and Nick Adams and the Aral Sea Divers will be playing by the smaller dance floor next to the upstairs bar. Because there is no sound system in the Boat Club, there might be lapses in music. That just gives you a chance to check out the amazing 1920s outfits! The bands will stagger their sets so that you can enjoy listening to both of them.

We'll see you at the Soirée!
